Library Board Passes Motion Requiring Face Covering in the Library

Saturday, August 1, 2020
(Airdrie, AB) – The City of Airdrie Public Library Board held a Special Meeting on Friday, July 31, to discuss the possibility of mandating face covering while in the library. The following motion was passed unanimously by the eight board members who were able to attend:

BE IT RESOLVED that Airdrie Public Library, effective 2020 August 3 (Monday), implement a policy for staff and patrons such that all individuals over the age of five (5) be required to wear a face covering (medical or non-medical-grade) while in the Library building until further notice. Medical exemptions may be granted for staff or patrons by the Director or her delegated authority.

Writer in Residence - Office Hours
Our first ever Writer in Residence, C.B. Forrest, will be offering one hour one-on-one blue pencil sessions for four weeks in November. If you are a new writer, experienced or somewhere in between you can submit your work for review and schedule a meeting with the Writer in Residence. You’ll get feedback, tips, advice, and discuss your writing questions with a professional. These meetings will be in person at the library, but can be done virtually upon request.

This program will bring in experts on topics that tend to be overlooked or not explored fully in school for teens and young adults (15-20). Topics include nutrition, taxes, banking, and employment. This will allow young adults to learn more and to ask questions of people that are trained/experienced in these topics.
