Naloxone is an important tool in combating drug poisoning harms and death within our community. Since 2016, Airdrie has had a 75% increase in drug poisoning deaths, with a total of 53 lives lost. This number does not include those who lived in Airdrie, but died outside of our city limits.
When looking at this number, although seemingly small, we must remember that this doesn't account for the family, friends, coworkers, and other community members who have also been affected. This is a community problem that needs community action and support.
Your Journey and AAWEAR encourage you to come to the Airdrie Public Library on February 21 from 6:30-8:15 to learn what Naloxone is, how it works in the body, and why it's important for you and your family to have a kit. These are lifesaving skills that can mean the difference between life or death.
