Current Volunteer Opportunities!

We strive to make volunteering with Airdrie Public Library a rewarding experience and it is through our volunteers that we are able to strengthen and enhance our services. 

Volunteers for APL Canada Day BBQ – July 1st
It’s that time of year again! We are gearing up for our 14th Annual Canada BBQ and we are looking for volunteer help. This year July 1st is on a Saturday and the BBQ will be held directly after the Airdrie Canada Day Parade.
This is our largest community engagement event of the year and an important fundraiser.  We rely on the support of a large number of volunteers for the success of this event.
Volunteers help with:

Set Up Team - Time: 8:00 am to 10:00 am – volunteers will set up tables, chairs, tents, serving areas, barricades and place signs 

Door Ushers Team - Time: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm- volunteers will monitor traffic at library entrance and direct customers to washrooms (two shifts: 10:00 to 12:00 and 12:00 to 2:00)
Serving Team- Time: 10:30am – 1:30pm- volunteers will serve at a number of stations, main meal, buns, salad/beans, water/cookies and condiments
Tear Down Team -Time:  1:30 – 4:00- volunteers will help tear down and put away of tables, chairs, tents, serving areas, barricades and recycling

Youth Volunteers for TD Summer Reading Club Launch

Youth Volunteers for TD Summer Reading Club

Hey Airdrie Teens; do you:

  • need volunteer hours for graduation or service clubs
  • want to learn valuable workplace skills like team building, communication and leadership
  • love to read and want to share on your passion with younger kids
  • have a creative flair for arts and crafts

Youth aged 14 to 18 years (18 year olds must be attending high school in the fall) are welcome to join  our Summer Reading Club Volunteer Team and encourage a love of reading while helping with activities and crafts for school age kids.  Our SRC theme this year is “Celebrate Canada” and each week we will have a fun filled topic to focus our crafts and books around.
Date: SRC runs from July 3 to August 18. You can sign up for daily or weekly shifts in the morning or afternoon or for special events. Special events include the Airdrie Canada Day Parade on July 1; Fun Fridays; Finale Celebration and fun activities.
How to apply: fill out the SRC application form and return it to the library or email it to Then come to one of the three information sessions: Monday, June 19thTuesday, June 20th or Thursday, June 22nd or from 7:00pm - 8:00 pm at the library.
Tech Savvy for SRC Makerspace Monday

Assist our SRC participants with robots, stop-motion movies, gaming, snap circuits, DIY projects and more.
Dates: July 3 to August 14th (7 Mondays)
Duties: assisting with technology and clean up
Time: from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm
Positions available: 2-tech savvy teens (ages 14+)
Tech Savvy for SRC Stop, Drop & Code!

Assist our SRC participants to learn all things code, including how to code your own games, understand computer language, share your creations, and more!
Dates: July 6 to August 17th (7 Thursdays)
Duties: assisting with technology and clean up
Time: from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm
Positions available: 2tech savvy teens (ages 14+)

How to apply:

  1. Fill out an application form  and bring it to the library or e-mail it to our Volunteer Coordinator Lucia Gomez.
  2. The Volunteer Coordinator will contact you within a month of receipt of application to set up an interview.
  3. Together you will complete a volunteer agreement and schedule.
