In partnership with Stop Hate Alberta

Empower yourself to recognize and safely intervene in situations that perpetuate harm, discrimination, harassment, or injustice. This workshop aims to create a proactive community culture where all members feel responsible for, and capable of, contributing to a safe and inclusive environment.
Facilitators involved in this initiative come from diverse backgrounds, representing a range of communities, including Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (BIPOC).
Key Goals of the Active Bystander Training
Raise Awareness:
Of the types of behaviors that contribute to a negative environment, including racism, sexism, ableism,
Develop Skills:
To intervene effectively in situations that may arise in your presence.
Promote Safety:
To assess the safety of an intervention and to take action without compromising well-being.
Foster Empathy:
With those who experience discrimination and harassment, thereby fostering a more supportive community ethos.
Encourage Action:
Everyone has a role to play in creating a positive and inclusive culture.
Build Confidence:
To act as effective bystanders
Cultivate Responsibility:
To stand up for what is right.
As this workshop goes over dinner, refreshments will be available thanks to Stop Hate Alberta who is bringing this opportunity to Airdrie.
